Bio
Born April 18th, 1989 and raised in Maracas, St. Joseph, Trinidad, Seumas Keelan Callender, professionally known as Azaryah (formerly Flipo), is a Trinidadian singer, songwriter, rapper, and music producer recognized as one of Trinidad & Tobago’s most influential underground music creators. Known for blending Caribbean rhythms with modern hip-hop, dancehall, and electronic elements, Azaryah has built a reputation as both a versatile recording artist and an accomplished producer.
Azaryah’s musical journey began at the age of fifteen, when he started freestyling with classmates while creating beats on FL Studio. What began as experimentation quickly evolved into a passion for music production and songwriting.
By the age of eighteen, performing under the name Flipo, he signed as an artist/producer with Pro Records, the first hip-hop label in Trinidad & Tobago. His debut single “Another Murder” addressed the rising crime rate in the country and premiered on the television program SPALK, hosted by Anil Roberts. The video featured appearances by Billboard charting artist Fireball and national boxer Kertson Manswell.
During this period, Azaryah and the Pro Records team quickly gained recognition in Trinidad’s hip-hop scene, leading to major live performances including opening for international recording artists T-Pain and Keyshia Cole at Summerfest 2008, along with appearances at major local events such as the Boomchampions Block Party, Bmobile/Boomchampions Soca School Tour, and Soca for Summer.
Determined to strengthen his technical craft, Azaryah later enrolled at the National Energy Skills Center, where he completed formal training in Music Production and Sound Reinforcement.
After navigating personal setbacks in 2011–2012, Azaryah returned to music with renewed focus. In late 2012, dancehall superstar Vybz Kartel's producer Dre Skull approached him for songwriting contributions on two records, marking an important step in expanding his international network.
Azaryah’s breakthrough moment came with his soca single “Doh Tell Meh Dat”, produced by Soca Dennis. The record gained international attention, landing in the Top 10 on Swedish National Radio’s Top 100 Songs of 2013, charting alongside global hits from Drake, Migos, and Major Lazer.
In August 2014, Major Lazer released the official EDM remix of “Doh Tell Meh Dat,” creating massive waves across the European and Caribbean markets. This collaboration marked the beginning of Azaryah’s working relationship with the internationally acclaimed group, later leading to further collaborations including “Love Life.” His music has also received international recognition, including features on the Billboard platform.
Throughout his career, Azaryah has written, produced, and recorded music for a wide range of internationally recognized Caribbean and global artists, including soca superstar Rupee, soca icon Machel Montano, Jamaican dancehall star Shenseea, dancehall hitmaker Konshens, and Caribbean crossover talents Nailah Blackman, Skinny Fabulous, and Problem Child.
His songwriting and production catalog also includes work with leading soca and Caribbean performers such as Destra Garcia, Patrice Roberts, Ravi B, Erphaan Alves, Lyrikal, KMC, Blaxx, Lady Lava, and Lil Bitts.
Additional collaborations and production work extend to artists such as Benjai, Fireball, Ataklan, Gailann, Umi Marcano, 3Suns, H2O Phlo, Collis Duranty, Maximus Dan, Mr. King, and Squeezy Rankin, highlighting Azaryah’s versatility across soca, dancehall, reggae, and hip-hop within the Caribbean music landscape.
